Introduction Being a student at a mature age is in itself an exciting experience. It gives you a mixture of different kinds of feelings like higher self esteem, self satisfaction, competitiveness, fulfilment. Being a CALL student at a mature age was for me one of the greatest challenges I have ever experienced. It meant fighting my technophobia which at first seemed to be an unsurpassable obstacle and an extremely tough adventure for me. My first steps were small and unsteady, full of uncertainty and lack of confidence. Nevertheless, the recognition of the increasing value of the computer technology in the classroon environment, and my instructor's encouragement and belief in me, enhanced my motivation and enpowered my efforts. I enjoyed this CALL course tremendously despite the difficulties and the frustrations which frequently overwhelmed me during the semester. Now, as I look at it from a certain distance I find it even more rewarding and fills me with a sense of acheivement and conquest\. I would like to thank my instructor, Professor Christine Bauer Ramazani who encouraged me by appreciating my efforts and introduced me to a new world to explore and equip myself with a precious teaching tool. |
